GilledIt is a free social fishing app built in the UK for UK anglers: photo-first catch logging, a venue directory covering 3,318 UK fishing venues (plus 2,355 in the US), 110 UK species, an escrow-backed tackle marketplace, weekly challenges with leaderboards, and a social feed, all in one mobile app. UK-first, with a growing US edition.
We’re Anglers Who Got Tired of Losing Track of Our Catches
GilledIt started with one fishing-obsessed developer who got tired of losing track of catches, arguing about PBs with no proof, and scrolling through forums that looked like they were built in 2004.
After another session where we caught a personal best and then couldn’t remember the bait, the swim, or even the exact weight two weeks later, we asked ourselves: why isn’t there an app that does all of this properly, for British anglers?
We tried everything. Scattered WhatsApp photos, Excel spreadsheets, forum posts that disappeared into the void. Nothing worked. So we decided to build GilledIt, the app we wished existed when we started fishing.
Who builds GilledIt
Jordan Carter is the founder of GilledIt and the person who builds it: the iOS and Android apps, the 3,318-venue UK directory, and this site. GilledIt is run through Taine Ltd, registered in England and Wales (company no. 16343727).
He’s a UK coarse angler who fishes day-ticket and club waters, which is why the app is built around the things that actually matter on the bank: what the swim produced, what the bait was, and what the weather was doing. Every guide on the GilledIt blog carries his byline, and corrections go straight to hello@gilledit.com.
