How it works
Move Fishbrain → GilledIt in 4 steps

Open Fishbrain → Settings → Privacy
On the Fishbrain app, go to your profile, tap Settings (gear icon), then Privacy. Look for 'Export my data' or 'Download my data' at the bottom of the page.

Request your catch export
Fishbrain emails you a download link within 24 hours. The export is a CSV containing every catch you've logged — species, date, length, weight, location, gear, and a list of photo URLs.

Open GilledIt → Settings → Import catches
In GilledIt, go to Settings → Import catches → Fishbrain CSV. Upload the file. We auto-map every field and validate species names against our UK + US catalogue.

Review and confirm
Skim the preview — flag any catches you don't want to bring across. Confirm. Your full Fishbrain history is now in your GilledIt logbook.

No. The Fishbrain CSV export contains every catch you've logged. Our importer maps every field; anything we can't auto-match (e.g. obscure regional species names) is flagged for you to confirm manually before commit.
Yes. The Fishbrain export includes photo URLs. Our importer downloads each photo (in batches, with retries) and re-uploads to your GilledIt logbook. For 500 catches with photos, expect about 90 seconds.
Core features are free forever — catch logging, social feed, marketplace browsing and selling, messaging, basic stats. A Pro tier launches month 6+ at £4.99/mo. Every user at launch gets Pro free for 12 months.
No — Fishbrain still works after you import. Most switchers keep their Fishbrain account dormant for a month or two before deleting. You can use both apps in parallel during transition if you prefer.
Yes. The importer preview lets you filter by date range before confirming. Common workflow: import the last 12 months, leave the older history archived in the CSV.
