Move Fishbuddy → GilledIt in 4 steps

Open Fishbuddy → Profile → Settings
On the Fishbuddy app, open your profile and tap Settings. Look for 'Privacy' or 'Data and privacy'.

Request GDPR data download
Under privacy options, request your personal data download. Fishbuddy is GDPR-compliant and emails a link within 7 days (often 24-48 hours). The download is a JSON file containing every catch + every photo URL.

Open GilledIt → Settings → Import catches
In GilledIt, choose Settings → Import catches → Fishbuddy JSON. Upload the file. We parse it and validate every species name against our 266-species catalogue.

Confirm and you're done
Photos download in the background. Your full Fishbuddy history is in your GilledIt logbook within minutes.

Importing from Fishbuddy: FAQ
Yes — under GDPR, Fishbuddy must provide a full data download on request. Go to Profile → Settings → Privacy and request your personal data. Delivery is usually within 24-48 hours, max 7 days by law.
Yes. The GDPR export includes photo URLs. Our importer downloads each one and re-uploads it to your GilledIt logbook. For 300 catches with photos, expect about 60 seconds of background work.
Yes — we're licensing Fishial.AI for a Q3 2026 release. Until then, GilledIt's catalogue autocomplete covers 266 species across both markets and works fast. Once Fishial.AI ships, you'll get photo-based AI ID matching Fishbuddy's accuracy.
Fishbuddy has stronger UK sea-mark coverage today (1M+ EU spots accumulated over years). GilledIt's 698 UK venues are mostly freshwater; sea-mark expansion is on the roadmap. If sea fishing is your only use case, Fishbuddy currently wins on that data set.
