Silver Lake depth map
Silver Lake in Berlin, Meriden, Connecticut reaches a depth of 16 feet. Silver Lake is charted here across 8 closed depth contours, from the 0 ft line down to 14 ft, enclosing about 145 acres of water. Half of that water lies inside the 4 ft line, and only 1 acres lie inside the deepest one. Every contour is on the interactive map below, free and without an account.

| 14 ft | 1 acres | under 1% |
Acreages are computed from the closed CT DEEP Lake Bathymetry contour rings, with islands subtracted. Shares are of the 145 acres inside the outermost charted contour (the 0 ft line), which is the outer edge of the mapped water, several state files carry no 0 ft shoreline line, so this is not the same as a share of the lake's published surface area. The survey also records a 16 ft sounding, marked as a point rather than a closed contour, so it is not charted as a band.
Fishing Silver Lake: a broad shallow flat
About 145 acres of Silver Lake sit inside the survey's 0 ft contour, and half of that water is already gone by the 4 ft line: most of this Berlin, Meriden water is shallow and the depth is concentrated in one part of the basin. The steepest break on the chart runs from 0 down to 2 ft: 51 acres of bottom fall away across 2 ft there, which makes that band the first contour to work. 1 acres, under 1% of the mapped water, lie inside the deepest 14 ft contour, toward the middle of the lake. Topping out at 16 ft, weed growth structures this water more than depth does, but the 1-acre deep spot still concentrates fish in the heat of summer, and the one-contour depressions on the chart are the ones most anglers row straight over.
Ice fishing on Silver Lake
A shallow lake like Silver Lake is usually among the first to make safe ice, and once the weed beds die back the fish have very little deep water to spread into: just 1 acres inside the 14 ft contour. Start there, then hunt the subtle single-contour depressions across the 145-acre basin. Check ice thickness locally before you walk out.
Silver Lake depth map FAQs
- How deep is Silver Lake?
- Silver Lake reaches a maximum depth of 16 feet in the CT DEEP Lake Bathymetry survey. Most of it is far shallower: the survey charts 8 closed depth contours over about 145 acres, and half of that water sits inside the 4 ft line. The 16 ft figure is a single recorded sounding rather than a closed contour, so the deepest line you can actually trace on the map is 14 ft.
- Where is the deepest part of Silver Lake?
- The deepest charted water on Silver Lake lies inside the 14 ft contour, toward the middle of the lake. That contour encloses 1 acres, under 1% of the mapped water, so it is a small target on a small water, the depth chart above gives the contour to line up on.
- How much of Silver Lake is shallower than 4 feet?
- About half. The 4 ft contour encloses 61 acres of the roughly 145 acres inside the outer 0 ft line, so the other half of the water is shallower than 4 feet. The sharpest drop is between 0 and 2 feet, where the mapped water sheds 51 acres.
- How accurate is this Silver Lake depth map?
- The contours come from the CT DEEP Lake Bathymetry survey, retrieved August 2026 and last rebuilt on August 19, 2026. Depths change over time with water levels and sediment, so treat this map as a planning guide for fishing, and never use it for navigation. Acreages are computed from the published contour geometry, not from a separate area survey, so read them as close approximations.
