About Linear Fisheries
Linear Fisheries at Stanton Harcourt in Oxfordshire is the best known day ticket carp fishing complex in Britain, a spread of mature gravel pits between Witney and Oxford plus a syndicate arm. St Johns, Brasenose One and Two, Hardwick and Smiths, Manor Farm and Oxlease are the headline lakes, holding thousands of carp between them with fish past 50lb, including a 54lb lake record mirror from Brasenose One and catfish beyond 100lb in St Johns. General day tickets are £20 for two rods over a ten hour day or £30 for 24 hours, paid by card to bailiffs who patrol the banks, while Manor Farm, Hunts Corner and the Tar Farm lakes are pre booked through the GoCatch app. There is no close season, and big tench, bream and pike back up the carp.
Details gathered from public sources. Confirm with the venue before travelling.
St Johns, Manor Farm and Oxlease
St Johns is the famous one, an 18 acre pit that Linear believes holds more than 970 carp, most over 20lb, with several fish caught past 47lb and catfish that have gone beyond 100lb. Manor Farm next door is around 14 acres with roughly 700 carp, at least forty of them over 30lb and a lake record mirror of 51lb 4oz; it is now fished by pre booked peg through the GoCatch platform. Oxlease covers 26 acres with about 1,600 carp, close to a hundred different thirties and a record common of 52lb 15oz. All three also produce double figure tench and big bream.
Brasenose One and Two, Hardwick and Smiths, and Unity
Brasenose One is the runs water of the complex at 32 acres, stocked with an estimated 1,900 carp of which around 70 percent top 20lb, plus roughly 150 different thirties and that 54lb record mirror. Brasenose Two fishes over gravel bars, with mirrors to 49lb 15oz, and Linear insists on safe leader and drop off lead setups there. Hardwick and Smiths are two of the original lakes joined by a narrow channel, holding just over 1,000 carp with at least fifty thirties and fish over 40lb. Unity Lake, about 25 acres with 500 plus carp into the mid forties, sits in Linear's separate Guy Lakes syndicate rather than on day ticket.
Day tickets and prices
On the general day ticket waters, including St Johns, Brasenose One and Two, Hardwick and Smiths and Oxlease, you set up and pay the patrolling bailiff by card: £20 for two rods or £21 for three over a ten hour day, and £30 or £36 for 24 hours. Manor Farm, Hunts Corner and the Tar Farm lakes are booked ahead on the GoCatch app at £20 to £23 for a day and £36 to £42 for 24 hours. OAP and disabled anglers get £1 off per rod, accompanied under 16s fish free in a shared swim, and serving forces personnel fish half price on the non bookable waters. Confirm current prices with the fishery before travelling.
Rules and access
There is no close season on any Linear water, but gates are locked overnight, roughly 9pm to 8am from March to September and 6pm to 8am through winter, with an early arrivals car park at Hardwick Lake. Tickets are transferable between the general waters, so you can move lakes mid session everywhere except Hunts Corner. The complex sits around Stanton Harcourt and Linch Hill off the B4449, a short drive south of the A40 between Witney and Oxford. Check Linear's published rule book for rig, leader and retention rules before casting out.
