Schlamm Lake depth map
Schlamm Lake in Clark County, Indiana reaches a depth of 21 feet. Schlamm Lake is charted here across 10 closed depth contours, from the 1 ft line down to 19 ft, enclosing about 15 acres of water. Half of that water lies inside the 11 ft line, and only under an acre lie inside the deepest one. Every contour is on the interactive map below, free and without an account.

Acreages are computed from the closed Indiana DNR Lake Bathymetry contour rings, with islands subtracted. Shares are of the 15 acres inside the outermost charted contour (the 1 ft line), which is the outer edge of the mapped water, several state files carry no 0 ft shoreline line, so this is not the same as a share of the lake's published surface area. The survey also records a 21 ft sounding, marked as a point rather than a closed contour, so it is not charted as a band.
Fishing Schlamm Lake: steep sides for its size
About 15 acres of Schlamm Lake sit inside the survey's 1 ft contour, and half of that water is already gone by the 11 ft line: the bottom holds its depth well out from the bank rather than tapering off a long shallow margin. The steepest break on the chart runs from 1 down to 3 ft: 3 acres of bottom fall away across 2 ft there, which makes that band the first contour to work. The 19 ft contour, toward the southeastern corner of the lake, encloses under an acre of water, a single pocket rather than a basin, but one worth a drift over in high summer. Topping out at 21 ft, weed growth structures this water more than depth does, but the 0.7-acre deep spot still concentrates fish in the heat of summer, and the one-contour depressions on the chart are the ones most anglers row straight over.
Schlamm Lake depth map FAQs
- How deep is Schlamm Lake?
- Schlamm Lake reaches a maximum depth of 21 feet in the Indiana DNR Lake Bathymetry survey. Most of it is far shallower: the survey charts 10 closed depth contours over about 15 acres, and half of that water sits inside the 11 ft line. The 21 ft figure is a single recorded sounding rather than a closed contour, so the deepest line you can actually trace on the map is 19 ft.
- Where is the deepest part of Schlamm Lake?
- The deepest charted water on Schlamm Lake lies inside the 19 ft contour, toward the southeastern corner of the lake. That contour encloses under an acre, 4.8% of the mapped water, so it is a small target on a small water, the depth chart above gives the contour to line up on.
- How much of Schlamm Lake is shallower than 11 feet?
- About half. The 11 ft contour encloses 6.1 acres of the roughly 15 acres inside the outer 1 ft line, so the other half of the water is shallower than 11 feet. The sharpest drop is between 1 and 3 feet, where the mapped water sheds 3 acres.
- How accurate is this Schlamm Lake depth map?
- The contours come from the Indiana DNR Lake Bathymetry survey, retrieved August 2026 and last rebuilt on August 19, 2026. Depths change over time with water levels and sediment, so treat this map as a planning guide for fishing, and never use it for navigation. Per Indiana DNR, the data are graphical representations for reference only, not a survey instrument. Acreages are computed from the published contour geometry, not from a separate area survey, so read them as close approximations.
